Discover the Origins of Vu Du Cielle: A Name with History, Meaning, and a Heavenly View.
Naturally, we also wanted to give our child an appropriate name. In this thought process, friends and family were not spared. The name of the village ‘Cielle’ in itself was too good to pass up so the dictionary was called in. And a pace of 3 words does sound nice. It became ‘Vu Du Cielle’ or view from heaven. To this we linked the theme of ‘topography’ from which the colour palette and specific accents in the house were purveyed.
The rooms were given names from the legend of a topographic map. A reproduction of the 1777 Ferraris atlas of Belgium can be found in the house. Great fun to look up your own home village or hometown anno 18th century. The logo, an idea by Eliah Betse J., our graphic designer, depicts the contours of the house as seen from above.
The architecture, materials and interior reflect the character of the Ardennes. Robust, natural and cosy. In every season, the home comes into its own with sincere thanks to our architect (ABB Bosquée), interior designer (Veronique Hoornaert - ons binnenhuis), cabinet maker (Cocoon@work, our local contractors (Fabian Bastin - Vincent Lesuisse - BS Constructions - Gustin Jardin - Batisomme - Carrelage Rolland - Charme d'Ardenne) and Group VHC for techniques.

Difficult question because we have thought of almost everything we think. A blanket for the couch, slippers, a dressing gown, butter or Dafalgans are not provided. Tea, spices, oil, tabasco, firelighters, a hair dryer, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and dish soap are sometimes unnecessarily lugged along. Visiting the supermarket, butcher or bakery is easiest to do locally.
Of course, we already inform you that supermarkets in Hotton and La Roche-en-Ardenne are open every day. Here you can also find plenty of truly artisanal bakers and butchers. No need to bring anything from home. We also have a list of restaurants for various budgets. If you want to make reservations for large groups, it is always a good idea to do so well in advance. If you would like advice, we will be happy to give it
No, the property is completely smoke-free. This also applies to the burning of candles and the preparation of dishes involving smoke and odour, such as fondue, gourmet and raclette. Because of the smell and fire risk, smoking is only allowed outside. Fags belong in the rubbish bin after being thoroughly extinguished.
It is really really really very quiet there and we want (you) to respect that at all times.
